Sending you and your families the warmest wishes for the happiest 2017 filled with joy, peace, and love. I hope the holidays filled your hearts with memories you can cherish for a lifetime!
In this month’s blog, I am honored to introduce our very own Aspen House. Open for just about three weeks and counting, it is the most recent property addition to our Aspen Care family. The foundation of this home dates back to 1912 and it has been revamped to become a loving care facility in the present day. Currently, it is the home of two individuals with a capacity for three and a respite area.
Aspen House has an inviting atmosphere that lies in the heart of beautiful Elbow Park. With the birds chirping in close proximity and dogs being walked by their families, the residents really feel like they are a part of the community. The walk around veranda provides the home with stunning character and sets the tone for what the rest of the house has to offer. With a spacious floor plan that includes stairs, a degree of mobility is required.
The all-encompassing health care team is dedicated to around the clock care that gives residents and their families a sense of security when it comes to medical responsibilities. As well, there is a focus targeted towards activities of daily living such as range of motion training with an in-home physiotherapist and tasks like preparing personal meals. It is wonderful to see residents have autonomy to do things at their leisure and feel capable.
Aspen House has a tight knit familial environment that fosters a social lifestyle, a sense of belonging, and an opportunity to be heard. An important balance is created between recognizing each individual’s needs and bringing everyone together at the end of the day to share a laugh around the dinner table.
The care provided includes, but is not limited to, a network of compassionate health care practitioners for our client’s physical, spiritual, emotional and mental needs, quality meals throughout the day, weekly housekeeping, a 24- hour health care aid on site, and leisure activities including those with supportive volunteers. This brings me to our next exciting point-volunteers!
From personal experience, I can say that volunteering is one of the most rewarding practices I have ever encountered. Aspen House is looking for students who want to make a difference and merge together youth and seniors. Once you are clear with the basics, police check and CPR certification, you can let your creativity shine through and bring in an activity for you and our residents to do! Reach out to us for more information.
I hope I gave you a glimpse into how much effort and compassionate care is present in Aspen House. If you would like more information or a tour, please contact us and we would be happy to help!
